“What does a hen have to do to ensure the birth of her chicks? Just four things: relax, breathe, feel the earth beneath her, and then do nothing extra.”
-The Healing Art of Tai-Chi” by Martin Lee and Joyce Lee
The month of May is ruled by the sign Taurus. The sign Taurus is an earth sign, known for being practical, taking her time and also enjoying all of her senses. Sometimes Taureans are mislabeled as being lazy, mostly because we live in a world where we respect and uphold people who are always doing something, and sometimes the Taurus is fine with doing nothing, but being.
What would it look like if you ripped up your to-do list, shredded your calendar, and turned off your cell phone? When I think of possibly doing that, I get scared. I can hear an inner voice panicking and asking, “how will things get done?” What is underneath this voice of panic is fear and a lack of trust. If I trusted that it is all getting done, then I would allow myself to just relax more often.
Many of us grew up thinking and believing that we need to work hard and we need to deny ourselves any pleasure or gratification unless everything gets done. Rarely is everything done. That is because life is not a series of photo stilts. Life is real, it is moving, it is unfolding. And it is unfolding whether we hit the snooze button or awake at the crack of dawn.
This month, we can learn from Taurus and from watching nature. Everything is getting done, so relax and make time to enjoy and be in your life.
Important Astrology Dates:
May 2: Mercury Moves Into Mars
May 9: Taurus New Moon + Solar Eclipse
May 10: Venus Moves Into Gemini
May 21: Sun Moves Into Gemini
Taurus: Dear Taurus, this is the time to enjoy YOURSELF. Especially if you are single, this is a good time to reflect on what you want in a relationship and how you want to be treated. And now start treating yourself like that! If you want someone who adores you, how can you adore yourself? How can you show yourself adoration? Take time to adore yourself in ALL ways possible.
Gemini: Your active mind needs a break this month Gemini. This month, practice not over-thinking your choices and actions. Trust your first instinct and go from there.
Cancer: Relax with what you expect from other people and friends. Other people have their own things going on, and it’s time to stop taking everyone else’s actions personally. Instead focus on being the type of friend you want to yourself.
Leo: Perhaps there has been some pressure around work and career. If that is the case, this is the month to sit back. Allow the work to come to you, rather than trying to go to the work. Become a magnet.
Virgo: You are always learning. Despite the concepts that learning can only take place in certain places, you are constantly gaining knowledge. Know that even if it is not a formal training going on right now, you are learning many important things that benefit you in the future.
Libra: The judgments that you have about yourself and others are actually not helping anything change. Instead, use acceptance toward yourself and the areas of your life that you want to change. By accepting things as they are, they change immediately.
Scorpio: Indeed relationships take work, but with too much work, they lose the ability to be spontaneous and surprising. This month, allow yourself to be surprised. Let go of trying to plan everything out, and let it plan itself out.
Sagittarius: Slow and steady wins the race. Instead of pushing yourself at a grueling rate at work or in life, slow down, and practice moderation. Be gentle with yourself and your body.
Capricorn: It is time for some fun! You are a hard worker and have spent months behind books, computer screens and who knows what else. Go with the flow this month, paint, sing, draw and dance, and embrace all things fun!
Aquarius: This month invite you to cultivate receptivity. This concept may be more challenging in some areas than in others. What are you ready to receive? Are you ready to receive it for no reason or do you think you need to do something for it? This month, notice what you think you must do in order to receive what you want, and notice that that idea might be in the way of the actual receiving.
Pisces: This month, let go of some of the responsibility that you feel you need to carry for others. Share the responsibility and lighten your load. Use that lightness to just enjoy the sweetness of life.
Aries: Where have you been being critical of yourself? It is time to bring awareness to this critical voice and take authority in reclaiming your voice and your thoughts of yourself. Be kind to yourself with loving and accepting words. You are deserving.

The week before last I did something I hadn’t done in about 2 years; I enjoyed 4 days of vacation where I did not work, did no school work, and simply engaged in leisurely activities. Writing about it seems gluttonous, as I tend to believe we live in a society that values a work ethic where a person will work themselves all the way to the grave. At the end of the vacation, I realized how necessary it was for me to uncharge in this way. It was therapeutic to see friends everyday, read for pleasure, and wake up to the rhythm of my internal alarm clock. I also felt re-inspired about my writing and yoga practice.
The message I received during this time was: SLOW DOWN. I realized that I have been trying to rush through life lately. Sometimes it seems like I am in such a rush that I cannot even enjoy how life is. I decided to drop some hours at work to help lighten my load and commit to enjoying all that is life a little more. What’s the point of all the things we do, if we are not enjoying them? What are we rushing towards that we can’t enjoy the sweetness of now?
As we move into April, and the sign of Aries, I am reminded of new beginnings. Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac and reminds us a new path cleared for our journey. Sometimes we are so used to a certain behavior that we think it is normal. This month we are reminded that we are constantly shaping our life and can change the patterns that we know as normal. The energy of Aries and the upcoming Aries moon supports us in planting seeds in the direction of the life that we truly want to experience.

Towards the end of February, I began receiving a number of text messages, calls, and conversation, "What's going on in the Universe right now?…Is there something that is making my life crazy in the Universe?" I notice these questions often surface during times of Mercury Retrograde, and indeed this March, we start off with planet Mercury in retrograde in Pisces as well as planet Saturn retrograding through Scorpio. With both planets retrograding through water signs, this is a time to surely bring us in to touch with some of our unconscious and subconscious. I find that retrogrades usually bring large amounts of insight (if we are open to it), and sometimes that insight is what we have been fighting to not hear or know.
I recently read a piece called Loving the Truth by AH Almaas, he writes:
There is a place in us that loves to know the truth, that wants, values, and appreciates the truth. Only inquiry inspired by this love can serve the functions of activation and transformation. If we inquire out of love to know the truth, our inquiry will naturally disclose the truth that we love to know.
The old adage says that the truth hurts. I would like to refresh that adage into the truth heals. But indeed the truth is not always easy to be with. Retrogrades and water signs are full of truth. In a world where we have lots of sciences, technologies, and ways to control the way we look, who we see, what music we hear, retrogrades remind us that we are not and cannot always be in control. In fact, we are all susceptible to discomfort. That is the truth.
Retrogrades can remind us of our powerlessness, yet in our powerlessness there is power. In our ability to surrender and to trust, lies our power. In our ability to be with the discomfort and feel it and want to run away from it but staying with it, there is our power. I like to think of retrogrades as an invigorating inversion practice that makes us look at the world upside down, feel our fears of falling, be laughed at, making noise, and then coming to childs pose and just being. I wish you all a time of restoration, healing and truth this month.
March Astrology Dates:
March 11: Pisces New Moon
March 11: Mars Moves into Aries
March 17: Mercury Stations Direct (End of Technical Retrograde)
March 20: Sun Moves into Aries
March 21: Venus Moves into Aries
New Moon Mini-Horoscopes
Pisces: This watery moon is in your first house, house of self and ego, alongside Mercury retrograding. You may second guess your feelings and intuitions, even if you do second guess them, trust them. You are especially insightful around this time. Do not dismiss your dreams, fantasies and impressions that come to you – they are here to guide you and support you.
Aries: It is important to remember that you are not a victim this month. While things may seem difficult, confusing and disappointing, by thinking that these things are outside of you and placing blame on others or something outside of you, you deny your own power in experiencing these things. Ask yourself, what is my responsibility in all of this?
Taurus: The new moon is in your house of friendships and socializing this month, and even though you may feel very in touch with your emotions, notice your desire to withdrawal from community and find ways to be with friends and communities despite discomfort. Allow yourself to receive the nurture of community and held by friends. They want to hold you and nurture you.
Gemini: Changes in your job may be popping up this month. Perhaps you are being promised a new role that has not surfaced or you are ready to leave work. Be patient as Mercury also retrogrades through your house of career, along with the New Moon this month. Take time this month to clarify what you want in work. Create a vision board or do some journalism around your ideal career. And then release into the Universe and trust!
Cancer: Dear Cancer, first let me say that with 2 planets retrograding in your sister brother water signs, you may feel quite sensitive to all that truth that is being unraveled. The task is to learn from the truth. Not to blame the truth, not to deny the truth, not ignore it, but to learn and let your actions reflect learning.
Leo: With the new moon in your 8th house, the house of that which is hidden, sex and transformation, this New Moon beckons you to surrender to transformation. Transformation means that some of what has been or is hidden will be revealed regardless of you being ready. Allow yourself to be vulnerable and not close up with the information and insight that you receive.
Virgo: The New Moon is in your 7th house, the house of relationships, along with Mercury retrograding and planet Venus. All of this points to gentleness. Holding the relationship and your idea gently and with delicacy as though you were holding your heart. Be careful with it, honor it, don't take it for granted, and allow yourself to learn from it.
Libra: This month's New Moon encourages you to set a routine and give time and practice to your whole health. While it may seem that you have a hard time to committing to it, keep recommitting. Let everyday be a way to recommit to life and to living your most optimal life.
Scorpio: Saturn is retrograding through your first house, and the New Moon is in your 5th house, house of play and romance this month. So even though, there may be a tone of seriousness in your surroundings, find time to play! Play, dance, paint, create, laugh. While Saturn's energy may feel serious, allow time around the New Moon to let go and have serious fun!
Sagittarius: With the New Moon in your 4th house, this is likely a sensitive time for you, as the 4th house can often represent areas around mother energy, support, nurture and sensitivity in general. Notice where in your life you are being/feeling supported and perhaps where you are not feeling nurtured. Use this New Moon to nurture yourself and practice speaking your needs.
Capricorn: This month the new moon is in your 3rd house, as is Mercury's retrograde. The 3rd house governs all communication, so this is a great time to practice patience in all communicating – emails, conversing, mail, etc. Additionally take time with New Moon for quiet time of reflection and feeling what is up for you. Instead of ignoring some of the feelings that may be coming up, be with them, and invite them into your consciousness.
Aquarius: With the New Moon in your 2nd house, the house of worth, this New Moon invites you to take care of yourself and reconnect with your sense of self worth and deserving. Direct your energy, attention and intention toward your self this month, and nurture your soul and imagination.

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” -Buddha
February is ruled by the sign of Aquarius, where the New Moon will also occur on Sunday February 10th. Aquarius, an air sign, is known for its innovative and progressive ways, as well as it's deep drive to serve humanity. When I think of what it means to serve humanity, an image of a nun, monk or saddhu usually comes to my mind. I think of someone who has renounced their possessions and lives a life that is selfless and admirable. Yet when I dig a bit deeper into what service truly means, I am reminded of self-love.
Serving the world does not begin with giving up our homes and careers, but instead begins with a shift to truly love ourselves. To love ourselves in entirety – our bodies, our minds, our feelings, our spirits and souls. When we are fulling embracing and loving the self, the self ceases to control us, and we are able to share that love we omit with every creature we encounter.
As we approach the New Moon in February, let us choose one action of self love that we can commit to everyday. Let us serve our communities and world with love, and let it start with how we serve ourselves and care of ourselves.

“Hope and fear come from feeling that we lack something; they come from a sense of poverty. We can’t simply relax with ourselves. We hold on to hope, and hope robs us of the present moment. We feel that someone else knows what is going on, but that there is something missing in us, and therefore something is lacking in our world.” -Pema Chodron
I have nothing against hope. I hope for things all the time. I hope I will get to work on time, I hope I that people will not misunderstand me, I hope that everything will be alright. And even in my hoping, there is a fear. There is a fear that I will not make it to work on time and my supervisors will think I am immature, there is a fear that I will be misunderstood and hurt someone's feelings, and there is of course a fear that in fact, things will not be alright. So in some ways and situations, I am using hope to distance myself from the potential feeling of fear.
Yet the truth is that fear is here to stay. And while it may feel uncomfortable to feel fear, once we are in a practice of feeling fear but not becoming paralyzed by it, we have the chance to experience courage. And perhaps our courage will lead us towards adventure and a place beyond our mind.
December is mainly ruled by Sagittarius and the New Moon occurs in the sign of Sagittarius on December 13th. Sagittarius rules optimism and adventure, and also learning and philosophy. Sagittarius reminds us that by avoiding fear, we avoid life. And by avoiding life, we limit our possibilities for learning and adventure. Facing our fears requires courage, and perhaps even optimism that our fear is our teacher is not placed into our life to hurt us, but to encourage us to grow and move beyond our status quo.
The status quo cannot change unless we as people decide to face our fears. If we continue to closet our fears and repress our feelings, then we can certainly expect the same old world that we live in. The new earth is not coming by luck or from a force outside in the stars, it is coming from me and you as individuals. If we are ready for the population to vibrate at a a different vibration, well then we are going to have to do that in our respective and individual lives, and we can start by facing the things and people and ideas that scare us, and moving more deeply into them.
Sagittarius: With this month's new moon in your house of self and ego. With this time of your birthday, it is powerful to think about what you are afraid to lose. Are you afraid to lose your home? your parents? your money? Wherever you find the most fear of losing, challenge yourself to ask why you are afraid to lose this thing, idea or person. Most often we are afraid to lose things because we think it will mean we lose apart of ourselves. But what if you remember you cannot lose yourself? Use this month's new moon to reflect the idea of who you are with and without the things that surround you.
Capricorn: Facing your deepest fears may not sound appealing dear Capricorn, but it is totally necessary. With the New Moon occurring in your 12th house of deep subconscious and dreamlife, we can learn a lot by the places our mind goes without conscious direction. What is it that is tucked deep down under the surface fears? You may notice that these fears are coming up in dreams. Pay attention and observe without judgement.
Aquarius: While friends play a big part in your life, there are some people in your life that you hold onto as friends, but that are not truly encouraging your freedom. Perhaps you know them from certain parts of your life and you feel hesitant to reveal your full self to them. Why is it that you fear their reaction? What is it that you think they will not accept? And what is it about yourself that you are not accepting?
Pisces: Much of what brings people in our modern society to tap into their feelings of fear and inadequacy is their career. We fear that our identity is defined by our career, and with certain careers we are worth more or less in our society. This month brings up some fears around your own career. Perhaps you feel afraid of something going on at work or you feel the fear of starting a new business. Either way, sit in those fears, feel the whole thing out, and do not let it paralyze you.
Aries: Dear Aries, there is something called the beginner's mind in the Buddhist meditation practice, and this month will ask you to humble yourself to this beginner's mind. Perhaps you are learning something new or are in a new community. Notice what it feels like to start from scratch. Is it uncomfortable? Yes? Great, then keep feeling the discomfort and keep starting over again.
Taurus: The new moon is occurring in your 8th house this month, the house of sex, death and taxes. This new moon will hopefully ask you to reflect on the ways in which sex has become shadowed or unconsciously feared in your life. If you want to live in a society that is sex positive and sexually progressive, then you are going to have to look at your own fears of sex in your own life.
Gemini: What has been working in your relationships? What has not been working in your relationships? Oftentimes when discussing why a relationship failed to work people will habitually blame the other person in the relationship, rather than take any responsibility for the ways in which they contributed to the failure. How are you contributing to the ways your relationship is not working? What are you afraid of of showing about yourself in your relationships?
Cancer: The New Moon this month falls in your 6th house, which is the house that rules health. This is a good time to take FULL inventory of your health. But not only your physical health, but also your mental health. This is not the time to avoid the habits that are perhaps contributing to things that you consider unhealthy in your life. Instead this is the time to look at those habits, and truly commit to changing them if you are really ready to be healthy.
Leo: There is a song that you are burning to sing, and a dance you are burning to move through your body, there is a poem that is in your heart and desires to be written. With all this creativity, why are you holding it back? What do you fear by sharing this expression? What will you lose by revealing your creativity, or what do you fear you will lose by doing that?
Virgo: This month's new moon is in your 4th house which rules the home as well as areas around protection and security. The areas that we seek protection in reveal much to us about what it is that we fear about not having the protection. Oftentimes we may feel that without the protection, we are not safe. This month's New Moon asks you to look at areas of safety and notice how insistence upon safety might be holding you back.
Libra: The New Moon occurs for you in the 3rd house, house of communication. What is it that you are afraid of saying to others that are close to you and others in your community? Notice what the fear feels like when you hold back your true feelings and what it feels like when you share those feelings? Allow yourself to fear being heard and then let yourself be heard and vulnerable.
Scorpio: This month is a call to slow down and give to yourself. Perhaps you feel fear that by giving to yourself you are letting other people down. This month calls on us to feel the fear of letting others down, and being there for ourselves. There may be safety in giving to others, because then you may not have to feel the full fear of loneliness of the self. But this the feeling that will lead to self assurance and true confidence.

“There is nothing permanent except change.” -Heraclitus
I often desire change in my life. I look forward to change and when I envision my life in the future, I fantasize about all the ways my life will be changed. However what I do not fantasize about is what might need to happen for those changes to occur. For example, I love thinking about where my career will be in 5 years and how it will have changed and grown, however what I do not love thinking about is the sacrifices I will have to make it order for my career to be where I desire it to be or perhaps what habits I might have to shed to put more energy into my career. It's like if I could I would wake up and everything would be exactly how I want it, but that is not how change occurs. True transformation happens because we are willing to accept the changes that must be made on all levels in our lives. When we are committed to full transformation we must be accepting of impermanence and the nature that all things will and have to change in order to create transformation. With each new beginning, an ending also occurs.
This November, our New Moon occurs in the sign of Scorpio which rules all transformations. A transformation cannot be born unless there has been a death. Death gives way to birth. Scorpio reminds us of this natural process of existence. Additionally this month we have Mercury retrograding from Sagittarius into Scorpio. When planet Mercury retrogrades, we are bound to be humbled by changes, and challenged to unconditionally accept the challenges that come with a retrograde. What we can practice during this time though is acceptance and allowing. We have a ripe opportunity to allow for changes and transformations to occur, and instead of fighting them, to welcome them with trust.
Change is inevitable, as are endings. As endings draw near, so do new beginnings.
Scorpio: It's your birthday time of year. With this birthday, what are you willing to let go about yourself in order to allow yourself to be rebirthed into your most powerful self? There is something or some habits that will have to be put to rest for you to live the life that you deeply desire. Make the change now.
Sagittarius: What ways are you holding yourself back unconsciously? In order for you to continue on your journey and fulfill yourself, it may be worthwhile to take some time and notice the subconscious ways you speak to yourself. Great time to start a meditation or spiritual practice (whatever form) and observe yourself without judgement.
Capricorn: Even though you are a born leader, are there ways in which you hold back from that power within you? It's time to surround yourself by friends who believe in you and in your leadership potential. Put the other friendships to rest, and nurture yourself with the ones that support you.
Aquarius: What do you want to be when you grow up Aquarius? With Mercury retrograding, this may not be the time to quit your job, but it would be a good time to re-evaluate if you are being fulfilled by your current career, and if not, to start reaching out to people and places that may help you bridge the gap between your heart and your career.
Pisces: In order to get to the next level, you must invest in your learning. Learning comes from all areas – not only schools, but what does make schools effective is consistency and accountability. You may find that part of what you want requires consistency and accountability. Make it a habit to learn and learn consistently.
Aries: Mercury is retrograding through your house of transformation for most of the retrograde. You may find that your fiery nature feels quicker than usual to spark, and you might find yourself frustrated that things aren't happening when you want them. Be patient. Practice sitting with the discomfort and being patient. The change is happening.
Taurus: Relationships are similar to a garden. They produce beautiful fruits and flowers when taken care of, but they are also prone to weeds and death when neglected. With Mercury moving retrograde through your house of relationships, there is bound to be some changes occurring your relationships. Will you water the garden or neglect it?
Gemini: Re-evaluating parts of your routine would serve you this month. You don't necessarily have to make changes to your routine, especially as Mercury retrogrades, but you will want to re-evaluate what is working for you. Perhaps oversleeping through your alarm is a sign to not stay up so late, etc. Look for the signs of what needs to be shifted.
Cancer: Most of the month Mercury moves through your house of creativity and romance. This is not a personal attack from the skies, but a way for you to slow down. You often spend much time putting your energy outward, tune that energy inward to cultivate lovingkindness toward yourself.
Leo: This month, you may be feeling the urge to shift the space you call home. Perhaps this month could be great to re-vamp the home and add soe new pillows, curtains or a fresh coat of paint. Hold off on buying big electronics because of Mercury Retrograde. You may also feel like it's time to move – start scouting new places you feel you can grow into.
Virgo: Treat November like it's your first day of kindergarten. You have gone through some changes over the fall and summer, and now its time to put those new changes into effect gently and with the same innocence as a 5 year old. It's okay that you have not perfected something yet, just keep practicing and trying.
Libra: It's no longer serving you to accept less than you deserve. This month, it may be time to spend time building your self confidence. Self confidence is different than the ego. Your self confidence not only serves you, it serves all you encounter. It inspires those that you meet and empowers them to feel good about them self as well. Put the negative self talk to rest.

You have to keep breaking your heart until it opens. ~ Rumi
Does anyone like a broken heart? Yes, indeed there are some people who have learned to experience their heart breaking and find vitality within that experience. But many folks absolutely resist broken hearts because they are uncomfortable, unpleasant, and most of all they force us to get out of the patterns of over thinking and over analyzing which we have used to stop listening to a heart.
What's worse than a broken heart? I can tell you – a heart that is closed off, and a neglected heart. October is primarily ruled by the sign of Libra. Libra rules the 4th chakra which correlates to the heart. In Sanskrit, the heart chakra is called anahata. Anahata translates into English as "unstruck chord", it represents the part within us that remains whole and unstruck despite all of the heartache, the pain, and abuse we endure. I like to think of it as the part of us that no matter how bad of a day we are having can still look at a child, a baby, a puppy, a budding flower bush and still see beauty and can feel a sense of connection.
The New Moon in October takes place on October 15th. With this new moon nuzzled right into the middle of the month it is a reminder to us to go deep into that space in our heart. In order to go deep into our heart, we might have to notice that our heart has built a defense mechanism or that our heart is mourning or something else that perhaps we have avoided acknowledging. This might feel like heart-breaking. And hopefully it will be heart-breaking. But this time, as we notice our heart break, can we commit to being present with our heart, rather than trying to fix it? Can we bring the wound of the heart to the surface into our everyday life, and let the light heal it, rather than trying to put a bunch of makeshift bandages over it with an attempt to cover it up as though it is something to be ashamed up?
Libra also rules relationships – intimate relationships. Each interaction with someone is a seed of relationship. Each time we interact with another person, can we expose our heart so much that we might let it be vulnerable enough to break? With each heart break we have a choice: 1) to build up a bigger wall around the heart hoping it will NEVER break again or 2) to accept its brokenness and to allow ourselves to feel it and commit to feeling with this exposed heart no matter how painful. I am not saying that either are easy. But I do know from my experience of constantly trying to enclose my heart, that it doesn't work. The heart will break out of the encasement eventually and you will wonder why you didn't let it free earlier.
Libra: This is your birth time, and you are favored with the New Moon in your first house. This is a powerful time to incorporate your heart into EVERYTHING you do. This birthday, give yourself the gift of a free heart. Forgive those that you feel have mistreated you, notice where you are holding back love, and instead let all your love nd tenderness pour out of your freely.
Scorpio: Perhaps you have been trying to fool yourself out of wanting a relationship because you have not felt "lucky" in love. Why continue to fool yourself and repress your desire? With the new month in the 12th house, pay attention to your dreams and what they reveal to you about what you want. Feel the fear of being hurt and rejected and go our and start dating anyway.
Sagittarius: The new moon takes place in your 11th house, house of friendships and social gatherings. With the new moon on Oct 15th, this is a great day to spend time with your dear friends (old and new) and share your heart and gratitude for one another. An old friend may reappear, make amends and give healing to each other's hearts.
Capricorn: Our society often thinks that our heart and our careers need to stay separate, this month I challenge you to bring your heart to work with you everyday. Notice if you are holding back your heart at work and how that is effecting your approach to work. Take the risk to share your heart at work and notice how your work life will transform.
Aquarius: The heart is the bridge between your mind, body and spirit. Your tendency may be to spend much time devoted to your mind and spirit – to learning, thinking, and developing your spirituality. This month, bring that devotion to your body as well. Spend time cultivating the lower half of the body – legs, buttocks, thighs – run, dance, cycle – this cultivation is cultivating your spirit and mind as well!
Pisces: If there was ever a time to spend meditating or in some form of practicing clarity, it is now. You may feel like there is a lot going on, and perhaps feeling sensitive to all of the transitions and even overwhelmed. Use your heart as an anchor at this time. Spend time each day focusing on your heart. Life is changing each moment, but your heart will always be with you and has all the guidance you need.
Aries: As an Aries, diplomacy might not always be the easiest thing for you, however this month it will be important to be sensitive to others. Indeed it is important to take care of yourself and acknowledge your needs, but it is a thin line between putting your needs first and demanding that others put your needs first. Remember other people's needs may not be your needs. Allow them to give themselves what they need, and don't take it personally.
Taurus: It is time to get into your fall routine! September may have felt like a month that was all over the place. Now is a time to use the new moon on 10/15 to get acquainted with a routine for work and health. If you have been looking for a job, something will come through this month. Taurus Full Moon on Monday 10/29 – put a start next to this day, and take a risk, expose yourself!
Gemini: It is time for some fun this month! The new moon takes place in your 5th house of romance, play, creativity and expression. Use the energy of the new moon this month on 10/15 to support your taking a risk to play and tap into some new creativity. Perhaps you have wanted to take an improv class or singing lessons, or a cooking class. This is a great time to start a new creative hobby that you have been curious about.
Cancer: The new moon in Libra takes place in your 4th house this month. The 4th house is a Cancerian house and it governs the home, domestic life, nurturing, protection and mother archetypes. This new moon may assist you in healing some challenges with your mother or in moving to a new home. If you are wanting to move homes, start off the month cleaning and getting rid of old things to help energetically prepare for your move.
Leo: There is a curiosity brewing inside of you. And with this curiosity, also perhaps the drive to dig deeper into the curiosity. This is a great month to start a learning commitment or return to school or the classroom. To be a student is to be a teacher. You never know it "all", so allow your heart to receive the teachings and enjoy being a student.
Virgo: This month can do wonders for your self-esteem. Perhaps this month you realize how loved you are and how much love you are surrounded by, and how big your heart is. Choose to be around those that keep you in touch with the brilliance of your heart. This is your self-worth; your heart and your love. From here you are truly able to accomplish anything!

"I have great faith in a seed. Convince me that you have a seed there, and I am prepared to expect wonders." – Henry David Thoreau
This month, we move into the fall season and towards a Virgo New Moon on Saturday September 15th. Whether you live in a location where seasonal change is very apparent or not, what most people who have grown up in this country or raised children in this country can relate to is that September has a feeling of "back to school". And right in accordance with astrology, September, the month that traditionally marks "back to school" is mostly ruled by Virgo which rules knowledge, work, and routine.
As a child, I was praised for being "good" at school. I liked learning, I liked my classes, and I felt confident. However, having worked in the role of a teacher with children, I have come to learn that what determines a child's success in school is not what is going to determine their success in life. Most of our schools preach a rhetoric around ability and working hard. In fact, once we become adults, there is still somewhat pressure to work hard in order to be successful. There is always an area where we can feel that we can work harder, and oftentimes we blame ourselves for not working hard enough.
This month, ruled by the sign of work and knowledge, Virgo let's reflect deeper into what work means. I think about the Sanskrit word for work, karma. Karma roughly translates into work, action, and also as the result of action. Virgo is represented by a woman, and this woman is usually depicted carrying an ear of wheat in her hand. This ear of wheat (also seen as corn sometimes) represents the seed. It represents the idea that there is seed in all of our actions. It is our actions that create the work, and it our actions that produce results. In this way, no action is in vain, and each action matters. Even if we study for a test and still get a C, the action of studying is NOT in vain. We must remember that when we put our full heart and soul into an action, no one can judge it or put a mark on it.
The energy of Virgo reminds us that our work is simply our actions. Our actions our oftentimes the seeds to the fruit that shall bare. Give your actions with love and trust, and let go of the expectation of pleasing another person or receiving a "high score". Trust that those actions you fully give have already born fruit to feed you and the world.
(Remember to read the horoscope for BOTH your sun sign and your rising sign!)
Virgo: The new moon this month occurs in your 1st house, the house of ego, personality, appearance and self. With your natal Sun conjuct this new Moon, you may find yourself feeling inspired yet balanced. You may have the tendency to want to immerse yourself in a project or goal, but can you balance yourself and instead of being focused on the end goal, gocus on each detail to this goal, and give your whole heart to each detail one by one. Slow down and be where you are.
Libra: The new moon this month occurs in your 12th house, the house of your deeper consciousness. The deeper conscious that lies within us is both empowering and scary to encounter. In some ways, when we tap into this place we feel empowered to know ourselves at this deeper level, yetwe often feel fear that we may uncover something about us that scares us and confuses ourselves. Pay attention to your dreams – write them, draw them, ponder them, but don't judge them or yourself. Let them potentially be a seed for thought.
Scorpio: The new moon this month occurs in your 11th house, the house of friendships, socializing and humanitarian causes. With this new moon energy, it could serve you to extend yourself to new friends and spend time in circles that perhaps might be unfamiliar, but that feel mentally and socially stimulating. Reach farther outside of your comfort zone, and plant the seeds of new friendships and interests.
Sagittarius: The new moon this month occurs in your 10th house, the house of career and your life calling. The energy of the new moon this month is asking you to further commit to your life's calling or universal career. Your life calling is perhaps different than your daily work, sometimes they are the same. But shift some focus from the daily work to the work or interests that fulfill your mind, body and soul. Plant a seed of commitment towards further sharing and living this calling.
Capricorn: This month's new moon takes place in your 9th house, the house of higher learning, philosophy and athleticism. This new moon presents a great time to share yourself as both a teacher and a student. Take something that you have been developing and begin to teach it. Whether you teach it in an informal or formal setting, plant the seed of yourself as a teacher. It it through teaching that we learn the most.
Aquarius: The new moon this month takes place in your 8th house, the house commonly known for "sex, death, and taxes" or for the places that we often want to keep hidden or hide from. With the new moon in this house or areas hidden, the practice is to become aware of how your are hiding or what you are hiding? What is it that you keep very private and do not want to share, and why is that? What are you afraid of if this is revealed? Know yourself and reveal yourself, your power comes in being transparent, not hidden.
Pisces: The new moon this month takes places in your 7th house, the house of relationships, partnerships and marriage. It takes a certain amount of trusting in our actions in this area. Whereas the 7th house brings up a lot of fear of rejection for people as well as the exciting possibility of romantic relationship. What seeds are you planting towards your current relationship or in preparation for your next relationship? Relationships become the result of the seeds we plant in our minds about our self. Look at the seeds you are have planted about yourself and and pull any weeds that are not serving your journey for love.
Aries: The new moon takes place in your 6th house this month. The 6th house is the house of work and routine, and what a great place to be experiencing this Virgo new moon energy. It's time to commit and to let your seeds harvest. Whereas some of us may need to work on knowing that the harvest is come, what I challenge you to do is plant your seed and practice patience. It takes rain, sun, wind and earth to nourish the seed. Notice when you want to quit, notice and keep going.
Taurus: The new moon takes place in your 5th house this month. The 5th house is the house of playfulness, children and creativity. The seed of creativity is playfulness and the seed of playfulness lies in being. How can you practice more being this month, and less doing? Are you allowing yourself to play and create or are you only seeing the rat race and feeling an urge to participate? Plant the seed this month to connect with your being – through dance, yoga, meditation, walks on the beach or whatever else moves you.
Gemini: The new moon this month takes place in your 4th house, the house of the home, mother, and security. Pay attention to the influences of your parents, or especially the person in the role of female caregiver. Is she supporting you or is she supporting an idea of you? Sometimes what is comfortable is not serving one's growth, even as it suggests an idea of safety. The new moon this month encourages you to become aware of how your present concept of safety is serving you (or how it isn't). Then your task is to act from there.
Cancer: The new moon this month takes place in your 3rd house, the house of siblings, communication and neighborhood. Communication is a loaded term and to be intelligently communicating requires many actions. Healthy and clear communication are the seeds of healthy relationships with yourself and with the world. The new moon here this month aids you in communicating honestly and with your needs. Now what you must do is figure our what you honestly need, and then speak it.
Leo: The new moon this month takes place in your 2nd house, the house of earned income and self worth. With the new moon in this area, how can you plant new income into your life? This question may prompt you to write a list of resumes to update, companies to call, and pitches to make. Instead I ask you to dig deeper into the areas within you that feel non-deserving of money and income. Instead of continuing to plant the seeds of this story, plant seeds of a new story, one in which you are deserving of money for your needs and to help others and your visions. Plant seeds of self worth that also include self care and believing that you are worthy of being taken care of in an abundant way.

"Watch out for emergencies. They are your big chance." -Fritz Reiner
August starts off in medias res. Right in the middle of Mercury Retrograde and the summer season, it may not seem that starting a new month slows anything down. In fact on August 1st we have the first of 2 Full Moon during this month, so we start off August with the extra energy and power of the Full Moon in Aquarius! The Full Moon occurs when the Moon is on the opposite side of the Earth than the Sun. In this way the Sun lights up the Moon and we on Earth are able to see it in its fullness. The Full Moon is often known as a time when hospitals fill up, and when people start to experience intense emotions. Note that during the 1st 2 days of the August – are you noticing a certain urgency to your emotions? Often during times when are emotions are the most pronounced or when they are pretty inescapable, it can be easy to forget that they are natural and that you are not a slave to them. The moments of most intensity remind us to claim our agency even in the midst of confusion and discomfort. The Full Moon in Aquarius is a social moon, so this is a great day for all to enjoy the company of those you love, to dance, to sing, or to attend a lecture, yoga class and be amongst people.
Mercury Retrograde completes it's retrograde cycle on August 9th. I find that summer retrogrades are extra challenging but that they also help to slow us down to experience the present moment. Keep the first week of August clear and open, and let things come to you. Enjoy the slowness, because the rest of the month could very easily feel like it is moving at the speed of lightening. On August 31, we have the 2nd Full Moon of the month in Pisces. Unlike the Full Moon earlier this month, this Full Moon is a time to go inward and pay attention to your thoughts and dreams.
Leo: The Sun is your planetary ruler, and with the Sun in your 1st house of appearance, ego, and personality, it would be no surprise to hear that during your birthday time, you often shine extra bright. This year you also have Mercury retrograding in this same area, so you may be noticing some plans that have not been going your way, or some impatience around the ways that your life may usually move in a very excited manner. This is the time to practice exuding that famous Leo confidence even in the times when you don't necessarily feel that way. Allow yourself to emerge even through the challenges.
Virgo: August 1st's Full Moon falls in your house of health, routine and work. With the Full Moon here, so you may find some extra motivation to get a new workout routine rolling or to start a project in your work sector that you have been wanting to get into. This is a great month to tap into the energy that is provided through the first Full Moon of the month. Let this energy invigorate you through the whole month.
Libra: With Mars finishing its tour of Libra through your 1st house this month, tap into the energy of Mars the first 3 weeks of the month. Mars is the planet of passion, war, lust and desire that may actually be quite different from your Libra demeanor. Mars helps us to make choices and then act on those choices. What do you want to accomplish this summer? Pick one thing or project and fully commit to it.
Scorpio: August's first Full Moon takes place in your area of home, protection and family. This may be a good time to slow down, spend time with family, and give yourself some tenderness. Take the shell off, and expose yourself to yourself and then be very gentle with you. Mars moves into your 1st house on Aug 24, which will give you some extra energy in accomplishing anything you wish to. Remember though, you can only control yourself, not others.
Sagittarius: This month you have the Sun and Mercury moving through your 9th house. The 9th house is the area of your chart that corresponds to Sagittarius, so there is some extra emphasis on Sanitarian ways as the month starts off. Sagittarius is the sign of the philosopher and of education. Let this month be a time of learning for you. Learn from the people you encounter, the places you go, the challenges that present themselves. It's okay to not know everything, just stay open to learning.
Capricorn: This month you have the Sun and Mercury moving through your 8th house. The 8th house is the area of your chart that holds the deep psychic, our connections to our ancestors, as well as the parts of us that we often try to hide or keep secret. With the Sun in this area this month, this is a powerful time to go beyond your rational mind and connect to the place in you that is beyond intellect. Surrender to the idea that your mind is your guide, and let your heart and soul guide you, even if it makes no sense to your mind.
Aquarius: This month's first Full Moon is in your 1st house. August 1 and August 2 are important days for you with Full Moon in your sign. With the Full Moon in this area of your chart, you are extra intuitive and magnetic. Fill your mind only with things and ideas that serve you and humanity. The way that you think right now is very powerful and helps to usher in change on a higher vibration.
Pisces: On August 7th, the planet Venus moves into your 5th house. Venus is the planet of love and harmony, and the 5th house is the area of your chart concerned with romance, expression and creativity. Having Venus enter this part of your chart adds extra delight for you. This can be an awesome time to tap into all of your creative desires and to let yourself be romanced. Don't fight it, let yourself enjoy it and get lost in it.
Aries: August starts off with the Sun and Mercury in your 5th house. The 5th house is the area of your chart concerned with romance, expression and creativity. With the Sun here, you might be feeling an urge to play and get out more, yet you also start the month with Mercury retrograding here, so it might not seem like the plans to play and romance are going as easily as you want. Once Mercury finishes its retrograde, the rest of the month should feel more clear for meeting new romantic interests or sharing sweet times with your honey.
Taurus: Mercury is retrograding in your 4th house, the area of your chart that represents home and family. Be patient about these areas and trust that after the retrograde, things will smooth out. The first Full Moon occurs in your 10th house this month. The 10th house rules career, vocation and authority. The first 2 days of August are powerful for asserting your skills and embracing your talents. Let the whole world see them, no more hiding!
Gemini: Venus moves into your 2nd house on August 7th. You have been enjoying Venus in your first house over the summer, although part of that has also been Venus in retrograde. Now as Venus moves into your 2nd house, the area of earned income, self worth and confidence, this is a fantastic time to ask for a raise, decorate yourself in whatever way makes you feel beautiful, and claim your right to the abundance of the Universe. Venus is the planet of love, but also of fertility and abundance. With this planet in your 2nd house, it makes way for new experiences of abundance. Enjoy!
Cancer: Planet Venus moves into your 1st house on August 7th. With Venus in your sign aligned with your natal Sun, you are ultra magnetic and attractive. Now the goal is to remember and believe in your beauty, even if others around you are not affirming it. Can your own affirmation of yourself be enough for you? Mercury retrogrades till August 9th in your 2nd house, area of earned income and self worth – work may be slow, but it will pick up later in the month!

till your mud settles and the water is clear?
Can you remain unmoving
till the right action arises by itself?"

This month during Mercury Retrograde, let us reaffirm our trust in life and the world. Let us be accountable to ourselves and others for reminding each other that everything is its right place, and as soon as we release the resistance, we can accept the present right place.
