Sebastian and Murielle

Murielle’s yoga journey began in the early 90’s in London, when she discovered a old yoga book in a second-hand shop. The book spurred a deep interest in the practice, which led to her attending classes regularly and experimenting with different styles like Hatha, Iyengar and Prana Flow. Murielle was certified as a Yoga Teacher in 2004 at International Sivananda Vedanta Yoga Ashram.

In 2006, she came across Yin Yoga in London via the teachings of Sarah Powers and, later, Victor Chng. Murielle continued her Yin studies with Paul and Suzee Grilley (Initiator of Yin Yoga) around the world in Singapore, Koh Samui, and California. She is naturally drawn to a meditative and contemplative approach and feels innately connected to the Buddhist teachings rather than any particular school. Her approach is gentle and compassionate, focused on breath, letting go, and letting be.

Murielle has also studied Prenatal Yoga with Pujiastuti Sindhu, and offers a safe class, connected and relaxed environment for mothers-to-be.

Presently based in South-East Asia, Murielle has been teaching in yoga venues all over the world to students of all levels. She often co-teaches with Sebastian at a variety of Yoga events.

Studying Yoga since 1995, his personal journey began with Ashtanga, Hatha and Yin-Yoga.

For the past several decades, Sebastian has practiced Martial Arts, Shiatsu, Yoga and Meditation, refining and stabilizing his research to the study of Yin-Yoga as a foundation. This foundation promotes a holistic lifestyle while cultivating and encouraging a tranquil mind. Combining Western anatomy with the idea of meridian theory, Sebastian’s practice of Yin Yoga is a potent healing and psycho-spiritual experience.

Since discovering Yin Yoga in London with Sarah Powers at Triyoga Studio, Sebastian was inspired to integrate a more contemplative/meditative mind in his Yoga Practice. In 2009, he came across the trainings and  work of Victor Chng, which consolidated his interest in the quiet practice. For the past few years, Sebastian has studied under the prominent expertise and fun-loving teachings of Paul & Suzee Grilley (Initiators of Yin-Yoga).

Sebastian’s teaching is enhanced by 8 years of experience as a body therapist (qualified Shiatsu practitioner) and Martial artist (nidan in Taido, Japanese Martial art).

Another major influence in his practice has been the study of Buddhism–specifically Vipassana (Goenka Style) and Samatha Meditation (Ayya Khema & Pak Auk Sayadaw Method) or concentration meditation (Tina Rasmussen & Stephen Snyder). In concentration practice, we return our awareness to one object of meditation and exclusion thoughts of everything else, thereby collecting and unifying the mind stream. Samatha practice is often referred to as “purification of mind”  which can possibly lead you to experience Jhanas or Meditative absorption.

Based in Asia, Sebastian & Murielle offer Teacher Training throughout the continent as well as in Europe. We offer 4 modules of 50 hours each to accumulate 200 hours at your own pace.
